Lisz Hirn

Lisz Hirn (born 1984 in Austria) studied humanities and voice in Graz, Paris, Vienna and Kathmandu. She works as a philosopher, publicist and lecturer in youth and adult education, as well as being a freelance artist involved in international art projects and exhibitions.

The main focuses of her philosophical and scientific work lie in philosophical anthropology, political philosophy, intercultural ethics and philosophical practice. The philosopher, who is engaged in intercultural dialogue, chairperson of the Association for Practice-Oriented Philosophy (Verein für praxisnahe Philosophie) and on the board of the Society for Applied Philosophy (Gesellschaft für angewandte Philosophie – gap), has worked as a guest lecturer at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and Kathmandu University in Nepal, among others, and has given lectures at Sophia University and Nihon University in Tokyo, as well as at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima. In addition, she taught at the École Supérieure Roi Fahd de Traduction in Tangier, Morocco, in 2015.

From October 2015 to January 2017 she was Fellow at the Research Institute for Philosophy in Hanover. From December 2018 to February 2019, she was a residency awardee at the renowned Adishakti Laboratory for Arts Research in Tamil Nadu, India. She has been teaching at since 2014 ULG Philosophical Practice of the University of Vienna, and since autumn 2020 she has also been a university lecturer at the Institute of Architecture and Design (Research Area for Housing and Design) at TU Wien in action.
